Kindergarten

The Midland School District is thrilled to announce the eagerly awaited Kindergarten Screening for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at Midland Elementary School.

To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years old on or before September 1, 2024, and must be residents of the Midland School District. For students currently enrolled in preschool at Midland Elementary School, no screening appointment is required.

Parents are required to present a certified copy of their child's birth certificate, obtainable from the courthouse in the county of birth. It's important to note that hospital certificates are not accepted as valid proof of age.

Parents must turn in a current physical exam, immunizations, dental exam, and eye exam for students entering kindergarten by October 15, 2024 or they will not be allowed to attend school. Parents are encouraged to turn in this information well in advance.

The purpose of the screening is to assess each child's readiness for kindergarten, providing parents with valuable insights and essential information.

Screening appointments are required for all entering kindergarten students (excluding preschool students at Midland Elementary School), and it is imperative that a parent or guardian accompanies their child during the screening process.

For scheduling and additional information, interested parents can reach out to the Midland Elementary School office on weekdays between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm at 309-463-8010.

In the event that parents are unable to attend the screening, we kindly request they contact the school to communicate their intent to register their child as soon as possible. Midland Elementary School eagerly anticipates welcoming a new cohort of students for the upcoming academic year.
